Starting a new group
Many people identify possible gaps in services or specific needs associated with a particular community and want to address this by starting a new voluntary or community group. We can help you to:
- Test the need by providing information about existing voluntary and community groups and the work they do
- Understand what is involved in starting a new group so that you are fully informed about the work and commitment needed
- Go through a staged process of setting up a group in line with good practice standards.
Getting sustainable funding for voluntary and community groups can be difficult so it is important to think about how easily the group can be funded in the future and sometimes it may be best to link with existing groups or do work in different ways.
Take a look at our good practice information to find a fact sheet on starting a new group and also signposting to other sources of information on this area.
